What is StampStudio?

StampStudio is a collage studio that runs in your browser. You toss your photos on a table, it puts each one in a stamp, polaroid or frameless border, and at the end it exports a JPEG wallpaper at the exact size of your screen.

It’s made by the PrimoEngine team, but it doesn’t need the app: open StampStudio and start. If you just want to see how it looks, open it with sample photos.

What can you change on each photo?

OptionChoices
FrameStamp, polaroid or no frame
Stamp edgeClassic, fine, scalloped, pinked or straight
PaperCream, white, kraft, black, blush, sky or sage
DetailsA postmark with today’s date and washi tape at the top
BackgroundPaper, kraft, cork, linen, felt and other colors, with window light

The style applies to the next photos, to all photos or only to the selected photo, depending on what the top of the panel says.

Handy shortcuts

How do you edit the collage later?

Click Save project. You get a .wallstamp file, a ZIP with the project.json and the photos inside. To continue, click Open in StampStudio and pick that file. You can swap a picture and keep its frame and position with Replace photo.

How do you set the wallpaper on Mac or Windows?

The exported JPEG works like any background image. On a Mac, open System Settings > Wallpaper and add the image. On Windows 11, right click the file and choose Set as desktop background.

If you want a background that moves, PrimoEngine puts animated wallpapers on Mac and Windows and pauses on its own when nobody is looking.

Frequently asked questions

Is StampStudio free?

Yes. It's free, with no sign up and no watermark. It works right in the browser, on a computer or a phone.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Everything runs in your browser: the photos are read and drawn right there, and the JPEG is made on your device. No photo ever leaves your computer.

Can I make a phone wallpaper?

Yes. The size picker has iPhone, Galaxy and Pixel at their exact resolutions. Keep the top a little clear, since that's where the lock screen clock sits.

What is a .wallstamp file?

It's the collage project: a ZIP file with a project.json, which stores each photo's frame, crop, position, size and rotation, and an images folder with the photos. Open it again in StampStudio to keep editing.

What if I close the tab without saving?

StampStudio keeps a draft in your browser while you edit. Open the page again in the same browser and the collage is back where you left it. To move it to another device, use Save project.

How many photos fit in one collage?

Up to 300 photos per collage. In practice, 8 to 30 photos make a good looking wall on a desktop screen.
